Couple variants. That you fell in love with a vampire, shielded him from the House, and ran off with him. That he tricked you and stole you away from them. That you secretly hated the House and saw an opportunity to hurt them by leaving work undone and leaving without notice.
Always figured it was something more boring. Maybe you habitually broke curfew or something and it was finally easier to split than take the punishment. No skin of my nose, whatever it was.
